As a Cultural Liaison, you are the primary contact for Cool Culture at your center. As a teacher, family service worker, program director or principal, you are also juggling lots of other responsibilities.
In our conversations with educators who have had lots of success getting parents to make cultural visits with their children, we've found that 3 simple activities are almost always a part of their Cultural Liaison Routine:
Make sure your famililies, school staff and even the children you care for are aware that you're their Cultural Liaison.
Try handing them directly to parents during pick up or drop off times, this way you'll also be able to introduce yourself.
Printing out e-Family Time and Family Time in Spanish, is also helpful to make sure that parents without computers, can still have access to information about Cool Culture's 90 cultural partners.
You'll be more successful if your center works as a team! Together you and staff at your center can provide parents with information about the program through parent workshops, distributing flyers, bulletin board postings, and more.
