The UnGala is also a celebration! Join us as we celebrate the cultural vitality of our city through the following performances:
During the cocktail hour
Puerto Rican Multimedia Visual Artist, Miguel Luciano will perform his mobile public art project Pimp My Piragua, which commemorates the innovations of Latino street vendors, transforming a traditional pushcart for selling shaved ice (Piraguas) into a hyper-modified pushcart-tricycle with a hi-fi sound and video system. Enjoy the sounds and vibe of your local block, as artist Miguel Luciano serves the flavors of childhood in the form of a piragua during the cocktail portion of The UnGala.
Performance by The National Double Dutch League. Watch these rope masters acrobatic performance and then get ready to kick off your shoes and jump in on the fun!
Our DJ for the night is none other than DJ Rich Medina! Get prepared to be taken on a worldwide sonic journey through hip-hop, house, soul, afrobeat, funk, breaks and dance classics. Dancing highly encouraged!
NYC electro-soul duo singers Jillian Hervey and record producer Lucas Goodman, better known as Lion Babe, will have you rushing to the stage to hear this live musical performance.
We are all artists! Don’t forget to leave your mark on artist and muralist Brian Paupaw’s participatory mural creation the evening of The UnGala. His work is often described as a bridge between street art, graffiti, portraits and storytelling. The semi-finished work will then be auctioned off during our auction and the winning bidder will have their portrait incorporated into the work of art!
If you attended our UnGala Mixer then you know you are in for a treat! Equal parts charm and talent, pianist Harold O’Neal’s pieces have been compared to Duke Enllington and Maurice Ravel by The New York Times.
